The Messenger Birds Release Their First Full Length "Everything Has to Fall Apart Eventually" (Video Interview)

On Wednesday, October 7th, The Messenger Birds will be releasing their first full length album Everything Has to Fall Apart Eventually. Although the band wrote most of this album in 2018 and recorded it in 2019, their plans to release it were halted due to COVID-19. But, now the time has come that it is available for your listening pleasure! Let us be the first to tell you, that it was well worth the wait!

We caught up with Parker & Chris from The Messenger Birds via Zoom on the eve of their big release. See what they had to say about the new album and what's coming up next for them.

The new album is currently available digitally and on most streaming platforms, give it a listen by clicking here. Limited copies will also be available on vinyl via Third Man Records. To order your copy, click here

As mentioned in the video, The Messenger Birds will be doing a live stream of the new album this Friday night. They will be playing the album from front to back, live from Rustbelt Studios, which is where they also recorded the album. Tune into that by heading over to the band's YouTube channel. They will also be playing a live show on October 16th, opening up for Steel Panther at The Crofoot Festival Grounds. This concert is part of The Crofoot's recently announced drive-in concert series. Tickets for this event are limited and can be purchased here.

Strange Heart Releases "Sinking Ships" at The Loving Touch

Josh Clemens and Bryce Carroll-Coe are two Michigan natives that returned home from the West Coast amidst huge life altering changes. Bryce had recently received a heart transplant and had a new lease on life. Josh was about to deal with the loss of two sisters to cancer. Both of these situations are bound to change your outlook on life and are unimaginable for most. There are a lot of ways that someone could deal with either of these, but in this case, both turned to music. And by turning to music, Strange Heart was formed. The band is comprised of Josh on Lead Vocals and Guitar, Bryce on Lead Guitar and Vocals, Mike Schneider on Bass and Vocals, and Bobby Jankowski on Drums.

This Friday night, Strange Heart will celebrate the release of their debut album Sinking Ships at The Loving Touch in Ferndale. Joining them for the evening are After Dark Amusement Park, The Black Drops, and DJ Eric Novak from Stone Owl. We had a chance to catch up with the band at The WAB to talk about the new album and the release show. Check out what the guys had to say and get to know Strange Heart.

As the band mentioned, there are four new songs available for streaming now. You can check those out here. Make sure you also head over and "like" Strange Heart on Facebook here so you are in the know when the album is released on all streaming platforms.

Cover for Friday's release show is $10 and tickets can be purchased in advance here. Things are set to kick off at 8 p.m. and all ages are welcome.

Hip in Detroit Chats with The Ladies of Harlow

Two weeks ago Hip in Detroit had a chance to catch up with the ladies of Harlow in Ferndale right before they performed at The Loving Touch. The four piece hard rock band has recently had some lineup changes and is in the process of recording their first EP together with this lineup. They have a few shows coming up, including August 12 in Akron, Ohio, September 8th at The Loving Touch and September 14th at a in Redford.

Check out our afternoon chat at
Port with Lauren (vocals) and Katelynn (drums) and mark your calendars to come out and see them live. We stuck around and watched them the night of this interview and were impressed with what they had to offer. Lauren can belt it out like no other, Joe slays on guitar and Kelly holds down the beat alongside Katelynn who owns the drums. If you like hard rock, keep your eyes and ears out for Harlow!
